JPS Senior Classic scheduled for Saturday

The inaugural Jr Prep Sports (JPS) Armed Forces Senior Classic will take place Saturday at Mililani's John Kauinana Stadium.

175 Hawaii high school football seniors from various schools will participate in the doubleheader, which gets underway with the Select Division game at 4 p.m. and the Open Division matchup at 7 p.m. The game is being put on by Jr Prep Sports, which also hosts the JPS Paradise Classic in January.

The Freedom Select team is coached by Waipahu coach Bryson Carvalho and features players primarily from Roosevelt, Saint Francis, Waialua and Waipahu.

Liberty Select is coached by Pearl City coach Robin Kami and features players primarily from Damien, Hilo, Kaimuki, Kalani and Pearl City.

Freedom Open is coached by Castle coach John Hao and features players primarily from Castle, Kailua, Kapolei and Mililani.

Liberty Open is coached by Campbell coach Darren Johnson and features players primarily from Campbell, Kahuku, Saint Louis and Waianae.
