PEARL CITY — Another win for the Tigers as McKinley (4-8) bested Waialua (2-9) in straight sets, 25-13, 27-25, 25-21, Thursday evening in an Oahu Interscholastic Association Division II quarterfinal matchup at Pearl City High School.

Both teams finished 2016 without any victories, but this season they were able to turn it around to qualify for the OIA D2 Playoffs with McKinley landing the second seed out of the East Division and Waialua getting the third seed out of the West.

The Tigers will face the West's top-seeded Nanakuli at 5:30 p.m. on Monday at Kailua High School.

The winner of that will land a spot in the OIA D2 Championship match and clinch one of the league's two berths in the Hawaii High School Athletic Association Division II state tournament later in October.

Waialua finishes its season at 2-9.
