Hurricanes blow up Red Raiders

The Kapolei girls volleyball team continued its hot streak Thursday night against visiting Kahuku.

The Hurricanes (11-0), ranked ninth in the ScoringLive/Hawaiian Electric Power Rankings, dominated set 1 before holding off the Red Raiders (8-5) in four games, 25-16, 25-23, 23-25, 26-24, for a playoff win in the Oahu Interscholastic Association Division I quarterfinals.

Four players had double digit kills to power Kapolei into next Monday's semifinal against Waianae (10-2). Tihani Guzman had 14 kills and 15 digs, Anela Pakaki-Pias added 13 kills and 13 digs, and Amryi Paris and Mikey Pililaau chipped in 11 and 10 kills respectively.

Skyy Botelho and Katelyn Erickson each had 12 kills to lead the Red Raiders in the loss.
