Second half surge lifts Farrington by Radford, 36-14

KALIHI — Radford hung in there for a half, but Farrington was too much as the Governors wore down the Rams to a 36-14 opening round win in the Oahu Interscholastic Association Division I playoffs at Edward 'Skippa' Diaz Stadium at Henry Kusunoki Field.

The Govs (5-4 overall, 4-3 league) put up 429 yards of net offense and gained 25 total first downs and will take their talents to Waianae to face off in the quarterfinals.

The Rams did all they could and gave Farrington a tough half but fell to 1-8 overall, 1-6 to end their season.

Stephen Eter tossed four touchdown passes, rushed for another, and threw for 174 yards and one interception.

Samsen Tanuvasa gained 109 yards on 28 attempts and Chad Silva caught six passes for 84 yards and score.

Eter threw a 22-yard score to Chris Afe-Alaivanu, but the Rams blocked the PAT.

Matai Suitonu finished with 117 all-purpose yards, recorded an interception, and hauled in a 22-yard touchdown from Randy Wright and the kick was blocked to tie the game at 6.

The Govs opened up the second half with eight-straight run plays and converted a fourth-and-goal on Eter's 3-yard score to Reginald Faamatau and Eter's passed it to Umaga for two, 14-6.

Afe-Alaivanu hauled in his second touchdown from 31 yards out as Farrington pulled away for good.

Eter threw a 20-yard touchdown to Chad Silva and later added a 20-yard run both in the fourth quarter.

Radford's final touchdown came off of Aldrich Pascual's 50-yard fumble return.
