The game had no bearing on the seeding for the Interscholastic League of Honolulu's Division II second round, but the Saint Francis football team can feel confident about itself for the home stretch.

The Saints avenged an early regular season loss to Damien with a 19-0 win over the Monarchs in the league's first round finale at Hawaiian Tel FCU Field at Aloha Stadium Saturday afternoon.

Wembley Mailey made a game-high 11 tackles, three for loss, with one sack to lead Saint Francis (6-3, 4-2 ILH D2) in the shutout win, its first since a 42-0 win over Kauai on Aug. 12.

Junior quarterback Bubba Akana completed 11 of 15 passes for 197 yards and a touchdown, which came on a 63-yard scoring play to Scott McLeod.

Sophomore running back Jonan Aina-Chaves complemented Akana with 134 rushing yards and a score on the ground, which came on a 74-yard TD run with three minutes left in regulation.

Saint Francis will take on Iolani (4-4, 3-3) at Kozuki Stadium next Friday in the opening game of the league's second round. The Saints will need a win over the Raiders to extend their season.

Damien, the league's first round champion, will take on PAC-5 the same day at Aloha Stadium.
