No. 3 Mililani batters Kailua, 52-0

MILILANI — Dillon Gabriel tossed four of his five touchdowns in the first half to help third-ranked Mililani wipe out Kailua, 52-0 in an Oahu Interscholastic Association Division I Red conference finale at John Kauinana Stadium on Saturday.

The Trojans, who improve to 8-0 overall, 7-0 in OIA play, scored a season-high 52 points and racked up 469 yards of total offense and earned a first round bye in the OIA playoffs.

The Surfriders started off the season at 3-0 but lost four of their last five games to fall to 3-4 in league play. Kailua is the Red's fifth seed and plays Blue fourth seed Moanalua at Farrington on Oct. 7 to start the opening round.

Gabriel had 366 of his 417 passing yards and four of his five touchdowns in the first half and no interceptions. He threw touchdown passes of 61, 43, 25, 5, and 42 yards.

Gabriel threw a 61-yard touchdown to Ryan Chang and a 43 yarder to Reichel Vegas for a quick 14-0 lead.

Damien Santiago, whose 27-yard attempt was blocked earlier, nailed a 29-yard field goal and chipped in 7 PATs.

The Trojans took four plays to find the end zone capped off by Raysen Motoyama's 25-yard pass from Gabriel and Darius Muasau rammed in a 1-yard touhdown.

Following Justice Gapusan's interception, Chang hauled in his second touchdown from 5 yards out for a 38-0 lead.

Kailua finished with 166 yards of net offense. Of the Surfriders ran nine offensive possessions, six resulted in punts and three resulted in interceptions--one was returned by AJ Tania for a 40-yard touchdown.

Cole Weber filled in for Aaron Mejia (injury) at quarterback and finished with 20 passing yards and added 47 rush yards and Raynen Ho-Mook added 27 passing yards. Chauncy Gonsalves-Bell rushed for 43 yards on nine attempts and added 94 kick off return yards to lead the Surfriders.
