No. 2 Iolani downs No. 3 Punahou in straight sets

Iolani got back into the win column with a 25-15, 33-31 win over visiting Punahou at the Lower Gymnasium of the Father Kenneth A. Bray Athletic Complex Tuesday night.

The Raiders, ranked second in the ScoringLive/Hawaiian Electric Girls Volleyball Power Rankings, utilized a 6-2 offense to great success against the third-ranked Buffanblu to finish the first round of the Interscholastic League of Honolulu Division I regular season with a 4-2 record.

Reigning All-Hawaii Player of the Year Saige Kaahaaina-Torres and junior Kristen McDaniel split time at setter for the Raiders. Kaahaina-Torres, the lone senior for Iolani, finished with 17 assists, nine kills and five aces to lead the Raiders in the win.

McDaniel added 16 assists, eight digs and six kills while sophomore outside hitter Elena Oglivie tied a match-high in kills with 11 on the night. Middle Sasha Petticord added seven more kills and Izzy Sadoka chipped in five kills to round out Iolani's attack. Libero Naya Dong stabilized the back row with a match-high 16 digs.

Amalia Hilliard had 11 kills and Isabelle Bauer had a match-high five blocks to lead the Buffanblu (1-4) in the loss.
