Punahou rolls by Moanalua in straight sets

The tournament's top seed and defending champion continues to roll as Punahou swept Moanalua 25-20, 25-18, 25-14 in the quarterfinals of the New City Nissan/HHSAA Division I Boys Volleyball Championships at Moanalua's gym on Thursday.

The Buffanblu break into the semifinals and will play Big Island Interscholastic Federation runner-up Waiakea in the first game of a double-header at Moanalua. The Na Menehune fall to play KS-Maui in the fifth place semifinals bracket at Radford.

Punahou's Ryan Wilcox led all players with 17 kills and added 13 digs. James "Buddy" Scott contributed 21 assists and Shea Suzumoto added 15 of the team's 45 digs.

Nalu Demello placed 12 kills and Zackary Miyamoto added 25 assists while Brayden Batungbacal dug 12 balls for the Na Menehune.
