WAIPAHU — There was no denying the defending champs Friday afternoon.

Hawaii Prep looked the part as the top-seeded team in the Queen's Medical Center/HHSAA Division II state tournament with a 10-1 pounding of Kailua in the semifinal round at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium.

With the win Ka Makani advances to their second straight title game to take on second-seeded Saint Louis at 5 p.m.

Jake Schenider and Chris Withheld had two goals apiece to lead Hawaii Prep in the blowout victory. The defending champs also got goals from Mateo Batol, Bip Padrnos, Ghar Pautz, Brendan Moynahan, Austin Schenider and even notched an own goal.

Kailua, the Oahu Interscholastic Association Division II champion and fourth-seeded team in the eight-team tourney, got its lone goal of the afternoon from Ripley Quebral in the 79th minute.
