Four teams remain in D2 state tourney

The final four is set for the Queen's Medical Center/HHSAA Division II state tournament.

Defending state champion Hawaii Prep will take on fourth-seeded Kailua at 1 p.m. while second-seeded Saint Louis will face unseeded KS-Hawaii at 3 p.m. Both games will be played Friday afternoon at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium.

Hawaii Prep bests Makua Lani, 5-1
It took the defending champs a while to get going, but when they did it was too much for Makua Lani to handle Thursday afternoon.

Hawaii Prep was held scoreless up until the 36th minute when Austin Schenider and Kento Komatsu netted goals to help Ka Makani take a 2-0 lead at the break.

Schneider scored his second goal of the match in the 52nd minute and Jake Schenider made it a 4-0 game in the 64th minute. Bip Padmos closed out Hawaii Prep's scoring in the 69th minute.

The Lions' lone goal of the contest game in the 71th minute by Michael Christensen.

Kailua outlasts Seabury Hall, 5-3
Oahu Interscholastic Association Division II champion Kailua edged Seabury Hall to advance in the D2 tournament.

Nick Faulkner put the Surfriders on the board in the sixth minute and Ripley Quebral doubled their lead three minutes later.

The Spartans got on the board in the 13th minute on Quintin Tanaka's goal, but Kailua responded five minutes later when Dylan Pedrina found the back of the net in the 18th minute to give Kailua a 3-1 lead at the break.

Seabury Hall trimmed the deficit on Louie Smith's goal in the 60th minute before Pedrina answered with a score in the 68th minute.

The Spartans would cut the lead once again after Thomas Lee scored in the 75th minute, but Quebral scored two minutes later to put it out of reach in the final minutes.

Saint Louis blanks Farrington, 5-0
Interscholastic League of Honolulu Division II champion Saint Louis scored early and often in a shellacking of Farrington for an opening round shutout win.

Skyler Goo and Jo Kasahara scored had goals in the first half for the Crusaders while Noah Alejado, Mitchell Quinn and Rick Sandry Jr. scored in the second half.

The win helps Saint Louis improve to 7-6-1.

KS-Hawaii rallies by Waimea, 2-1
Unseeded KS-Hawaii trailed 1-0 at the half, but stuck together to defeat Kauai Interscholastic Federation champion and fourth-seeded Waimea in the Division II quarterfinals.

The Menehunes scored first in the 23rd minute on a goal by Tayedyn Francisco.

KS-Hawaii's David Erskine scored the equalizer in the 57th minute to make it a 1-1 game.

Jonathan DeMotta scored the golden goal for the Warriors in the 84th minute to give KS-Hawaii the win.
