Trojans shut out Knights to advance to OIA D1 semis

Treyton Kong and Kawika Zarko each scored a goal to lead Mililani to a 2-0 win over visiting Castle in an Oahu Interscholastic Association Division I boys soccer quarterfinal at John Kauinana Stadium Tuesday night.

The West top-seeded Trojans (10-0-1) advanced to Thursday's semifinal round and claimed a berth in next month's state tournament in the process.

Kong, senior midfielder, scored on 40-yard shot in the 38th minute, while Zarko, a senior fullback, found the back of the net on a direct free kick from 25 yards out in the 47th minute.

The East fourth-seeded Knights (5-5-2) were shut out for the second time this season and will meet Pearl City in a 5:30 p.m. consolation game Wednesday at Kailua's Alex Kane Stadium.

Mililani will play East No. 2-seed Kalani (8-1-2) at 7 p.m. at Castle.

The 5:30 p.m. semifinal will feature West second seed Kapolei (9-0-2), which defeated Kahuku 6-0 Tuesday, and East top seed Kaiser (10-0-1), a 3-0 winner of Campbell Tuesday.
