Moanalua drops Waipahu, 46-35, advances to title game

MILILANI — Moanalua took down Waipahu, 46-35, in the Oahu Interscholastic Association Division II playoff semifinals at Mililani.

The Na Menehune (7-5) advance to the Division II title game to face Kalani (8-3) to make it an all-OIA East showdown on Thursday, Jan. 26. Both teams clinch state tournament berths. Kalani won earlier 58-53 back on Dec. 20.

The Marauders (4-7) will play Castle (3-9) for the league's final state tournament berth.

Raven Rosa-Lasco scored a team-high 14 points to go along with four steals, and hit the game's only 3-pointer. Delilah Sanerivi established herself in the post to score eight in the opening period and finished with a double-double—10 points and 10 boards. Lei Talaro also added eight points and 10 rebounds.

The Na Menehune broke open the game in the third to extend it to a double-digit lead and never relented.

Nikitta Kemi scored 15 points and shot 5-for-8 from the line to lead Waipahu in the loss.
