Waialua gets key win over Nanakuli, 60-54

Waialua used a big second half to top visiting Nanakuli, 60-54 in an Oahu Interscholastic Western Division contest Friday night.

The Bulldogs outscored the Golden Hawks, 34 to 25, after the break to improve to 3-6 in league play. The victory currently moves Waialua into second place of the OIA Division II West standings; the top three teams make the playoffs.

Royce Tashiro scored 14 of his game-high 22 points in the second half to lead the Bulldogs' effort. Senior forward Faaolataga Sailele notched his eight consecutive game with double-digit points and added 16.

Iverson Sione knocked down five triple and finished with 21 points and Moustapha Wagne scored 16 points to lead the Golden Hawks.

Nanakuli hosts Kapolei next Tuesday to close out the regular season while the Bulldogs will play their final game of league play at Waipahu next Thursday.
