Kekoa Kaluahine-Cacal rushed for 95 yards and Kapena Texeira scored the go-ahead touchdown in Kapaa's 14-10 win over visiting Lahainaluna at Kapaa Town Park Saturday night.

The Warriors, ranked No. 1 in the ScoringLive/Hawaiian Electric Division II Football Power Rankings, defeated their second-ranked team in as many weeks to improve to 2-0. Fourth-ranked Lahainaluna dropped to 1-1.

Kapaa's defense came up with critical stops on defense and held the Lunas to just 29 yards rushing and no offensive touchdowns. Kapena Texeira had two of the Warriors' four sacks and Dillon Apilado and Bryce Dato each had an interception in the contest.

Lahainaluna's only two scores of the game came on a 85-yard kickoff return by Radon Sinenci and a 29-yard field goal by Haaheo Au.

Quarterback Kurt Napoleon completed five of his 10 pass attempts for 50 yards and the game's opening score on a 31-yard post pattern to Gabe Keener. He also carried the ball 13 times for 40 yards.

Texeira's go-ahead touchdown was set up by a Ola Tatofi's big sack on Lahainaluna freshman quarterback Etuati Storer inside the Lunas' 20-yard line. The Warriors were able to get the ball back on the Lunas' 41-yard line following the punt by Nau Filiai.

Kapaa moved into the red zone after Napoleon's 22-yard scamper and got into a fourth-and-goal situation on the one-yard line following an eight-yard pass to Mosese Fifita. Kaluahine-Cacal powered his way up the middle for the go-ahead score and Clifton Oliver's PAT gave Kapaa a 14-10 lead with 1:19 left in the third period.

The Lunas moved the ball in spurts in the fourth quarter, but inexperience at the quarterback position proved to be the difference. Storer tossed an interception on the Lunas' penultimate drive and stepped out of bounds one yard shy of the first down marker on fourth-and-15.

Kapaa will have a week off before taking on Kauai in its Kauai Interscholastic Federation regular season opener at Vidinha Stadium. The Lunas will host Kamehameha-Maui next Saturday in their Maui Interscholastic League opener next Saturday.
