Castle posts 3-2 upset of No. 5 Kailua in OIA D1 East

Stephen Lee scattered eight hits and pitched a complete game as Castle upset host Kailua, 3-2, in an Oahu Interscholastic Association Division I East game Wednesday afternoon.

The Knights (2-3) scored the tying and go-ahead runs in the top of the sixth inning to hand the Surfriders (5-1) their first loss of the season.

Chase Kalama doubled, drove in a run and scored another to lead Castle offensively. Ezekiel Keama and Maui Gaison also notched RBIs in the win.

Dustin Imanaka led Kailua at the plate by going 3 for 4 with a run scored. Kalei Machado batted 2 for 3 with a stolen base and Noah Auld went 1 for 2 with an RBI. Brendan Odo doubled, walked and scored a run in the loss.

Stone Parker started the game for Kailua and allowed one unearned run on one hit before giving way to Keiki Kanahele-Santos, who took the loss after giving up both runs in one inning of work. Imanaka pitched the final two innings.

Castle will play Kalani 11 a.m. Saturday at Kahala Field, while Kailua, the fifth-ranked team in this week's ScoringLive/OC16 Baseball Power Rankings, hosts Kaiser at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
