The Oahu Interscholastic Association White semifinals will have a Leeward vs. city feel Friday night.

White fourth seed McKinley will visit first seed Pearl City at Bino Neves Stadium and White third seed Waipahu will take on second seed Kaimuki at Kaiser stadium.

The winners advance to the White championship on Nov. 4 at Aloha Stadium and secure the league's Division II state berths. The losers are done.

Should the Leeward teams win, it will be a battle of neighboring schools. Before Pearl City opened in the early 1970s, some of its students attended Waipahu.

Should the Honolulu teams prevail, it will be an old Interscholastic League of Honolulu rivalry. Both schools then shared a common feeder school in Washington Intermediate (now Washington Middle).

McKinley (6-3) vs. Pearl City (8-1) at Pearl City's Bino Neves Stadium; Kaimuki vs. Pearl City JV, 5 p.m.

The Chargers won the regular season meeting, 31-20, at the same venue. Pearl City is hot, reeling of eight wins in a row after a 54-0 trouncing by Kapolei in preseason.

Pearl City is led by QB Kaimi Paredes, who leads D2 passers with 22 TD passes and is second with 1,606 yards. He's also his team's leader with 427 rushing yards. Daicorri  Briscoe is the Chargers' leading receiver with 28 catches for 485 yards. He's also dangerous on kick returns.

McKinley QB Alex Ironside is just behind Paredes in passing yards with 1,257 and 17 TDs. Fia Duarte leads the Tigers in rushing with 638 yards.

Waipahu (6-3) vs. Kaimuki (8-1), 7 p.m. at Kaiser stadium.

The Bulldogs hammered the Marauders, 35-7, on Oct. 8 in a game at Kaiser. Running back/returner Brandon Kekoa, second among D2 rushers with 857 yards, was a one-man wrecking crew in that game. He scored on a rush, reception and kickoff return.

The Marauders are pretty balanced offensively, averaging 119.2 yards passing and 123.3 yards rushing. Quarterback Drake Yoshioka has 994 yards passing and RB Gregorio Alip has 809 yards rushing and 14 TDs.
