EWA BEACH - Mililani did two things Campbell couldn't - serve and pass - to sweep the Oahu Interscholastic Association Red West match, 25-13, 25-13, Wednesday night at the Sabers' gym.

The Trojans (9-0) clinched the division crown with the victory denied the Sabers (7-2) at shot to tie for the top of the standings. It is Mililani's first division title in four years.

"I couldn't have asked for a better bunch of girls," Trojans' coach Val Crabbe said. "They're competitive at practices, they challenge each other. Our practices are good because they compete."

The Trojans stormed out to a 12-3 lead in the first set. The closest the Sabers got was to within 13-6. But Mililani's serves continued to frustrate the Sabers, who were always on the the move chasing errant passes.

The second set wasn't any better for the Sabers, who committed a service error and hit two balls out of bounds after tying the set at 1. The Trojans never looked back, winning by the same first-set score.

"We had very good practices for Mililani," Campbell coach Ala Iosefa said. "I think it was the butterflies. We couldn't do anything right."

Although Campbell's final regular season home game is Saturday against Pearl City, the Sabers celebrated senior night after Wednesday's game. Still, it came down the Trojans' serving.

"They served us off the court," Ala said. "They did the same thing last year and we worked on it. It's one of those things."

By earning the top seed, the Trojans are assured of a first-round bye in next week's OIA tournament.

Meanwhile, the OIA Red East championship will be on the line Thursday when Moanalua hosts Kaiser at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Both teams are 10-0 entering the match.
