Brandon Kekoa rushed for 103 yards and one touchdown on just 12 carries and Siaosi Hala'api'api added two more TD runs last night to help Kaimuki blitz Nanakuli, 46-0.
The victory at Roosevelt's Ticky Vasconcellos Stadium improved the Bulldogs' record to 5-0 overall, 4-0 in the O'ahu Interscholastic Association's White Conference. The Golden Hawks fell to 1-4, 1-3.
Kaimuki took the opening kickoff and zipped 63 yards down the field in just six plays, capped by a 5-yard scoring run by Hala'api'api on third-and-2. The extra point attempt was wide left.
After Nanakuli went three-and-out on the ensuing series, the Bulldogs marched down the field again, this time going 49 yards in eight plays culminating in Nehoa Spencer's 11-yard run on a quarterback keeper.
The PAT attempt failed again, but Kaimuki scored again two plays after the kickoff anyway when Amu Moefu recovered a Golden Hawks fumble in the end zone. This time Keoki Kaiahua converted the point-after, making it 19-0 with 2:35 still remaining in the first quarter.
The Bulldogs stretched the lead to 25-0 less than three minutes into the second quarter, when Spencer threw a pass down the right sideline to Daylan Demello, who eluded a couple defenders en route to a 62-yard touchdown play.
Kekoa later capped an eight-play, 59-yard drive with 2-yard TD run on third-and-1 and Kaiahua's extra point made it 32-0 with 25 seconds left in the half.
Kaimuki rolled up 300 yards by halftime, holding Nanakuli to minus-1 yards on defense.
Demello's 58-yard punt return set up Hala'api'api's second touchdown, a 12-yard run with 7:55 remaining in the third quarter, igniting the running clock.
