Friday's Interscholastic League of Honolulu second state berth playoff was suspended because of rain with 'Iolani leading Saint Louis, 2-1, in the bottom of the third inning at Ala Wai Field

The game is set for 3 p.m. Saturday at Ala Wai Field.

League baseball coordinator Carl Schroers said the league suspended the game and is to continue from where it left off. The Raiders had just taken a 2-1 lead in the top of the third inning and Saint Louis led off the bottom of the third with a walk before the umpires called in the teams. About a half-hour later, the game was called.

After discussion on the handling of the resumption of the game, Saint Louis said it would file a protest against the league's decision to resume the game from where it left off. Saint Louis coach George Gusman said suspended games during the regular season are replayed from the start. Even though his team was down by one run with the tying run on base in the bottom of the third, he felt that his team was at a disadvantage.

"We're in the third inning," he said. "We only have four more chances" (innings) to tie or take the lead.

It is not clear when a decision on the protest will be issued. The game will start at 3 p.m. because there is SAT testing Saturday morning. Schroers, who is an 'Iolani athletic director, said he will recuse himself from the protest decision making because of the obvious conflict of interest.

The Crusaders took a 1-0 lead on 'Iolani starter Austin Jim On in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI single from Ryder Kuhns.

The Raiders took the lead in the top of the third against Saint Louis starter Pono Anderson on a run-scoring double by Tanner Nishioka and sacrifice fly by Christian Donohue.

Saint Louis' Jordan Mopas led off the bottom of the third with a walk before the game was called.
