Raford players celebrate after claiming the OIA White division title over Nanakuli. Greg Yamamoto | SLHAWAI'I KAI - Kourtnie Jury-Hale and Jessie Ines scored and Radford beat Nanakuli, 2-1, Friday for its first O'ahu Interscholastic Association White girls' soccer title at Kaiser Stadium.
It was Radford's first appearance in the White title game, which started in 2007. It was Nanakuli's second trip; it lost to Kailua, 5-0, in 2010.
Chevryn Morgan scored the Golden Hawks' only goal at 70 minutes, three seconds. She started her pursuit from about 40 yards away from the goal, worked her way up and fired from about 15 yards out.
Jury-Hale scored on a header from the middle of the goal off a corner kick from Abigail Grander at 26:41 to give Radford a 1-0 lead at the half. Ines, a receiver on the football team, scored at 57:15 on a 40-yard looping shot that just cleared under the cross bar, but over the out-stretched hands of keeper Kama Kaeo.
Radford took 13 shots on goal to Nanakuli's 12. Radford goalie Paige Moore had only two saves because of great help from her defense.
Both teams, along with third-place Kalaheo and second-place Leilehua, advance to the Division II state tournament.
