Offensive Player of the Year: Easton Yoshino, Kaiser, QB, Sr.

The veteran signal-caller put the finishing touches on a decorated prep career this season, which saw Yoshino log 3,096 passing yards and 35 touchdowns through the air. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound Yoshino led all Division II quarterbacks in both categories and ranked fourth statewide in pass yards and second in pass TDs, behind only Konawaena's Keoki Alani (50). Yoshino threw at least one touchdown in every game this year, including two six-TD games in wins over Waialua and Kaimuki. He also threw for a season-high 405 yards on 27-of-40 passing in the victory over the Bulldogs in early September. For his career, Yoshino passed for 7,325 yards and 84 touchdowns. He is the second straight Cougar to be selected as All-Hawaii D2 Offensive Player of the Year after wide receiver Kamakana Mahiko won the honor a year ago.

Defensive Player of the Year: Taohi-John Williams, Pearl City, LB, Sr.

Pearl City's defense was a big part of the Chargers' overall success in 2022. Opponents were held to only 17.3 points per game. They found it especially tough to run the ball against the Chargers, who allowed 84.6 rushing yards per game. Williams certainly had a hand in Pearl City's stout defense all season long. In his team's regular season opener against Kaimuki, Williams got into the end zone with a 38-yard interception return for touchdown as the Chargers rolled to a 57-34 thrashing of the Bulldogs. Against Kaiser a few weeks later, the 6-foot, 180-pound Williams racked up 13 tackles and came up with two interceptions. The following week against Nanakuli, he posted 9 1/2 tackles and a pair of forced fumbles. Williams was also selected as All-Oahu Interscholastic Association Division II Defensive Player of the Year.

Coach of the Year: Kyle Linoz, Waimea

The 1991 Waimea graduate and former standout quarterback began his second stint as coach of his alma mater in 2021. A year after the Menehunes posted a 3-3 record, they experienced a banner year in 2022 that included a 9-2 overall record, including a 4-2 mark in the Kauai Interscholastic Federation and the program's first appearance in a state title game. With its convincing 45-6 win over Kekaulike in the championship game of the Division II state tournament two days after Thanksgiving, Waimea captured its first state crown in program history and the second straight state title in D2 for the KIF following Kapaa's triumph last year. The Menehunes won their first five games of the season, including a 7-3 win over Kapaa. They defeated Kaiser, 48-7, and Honokaa, 17-0, en route to the championship game.
