Position Player of the Year: Dylan Honda, Waiakea, P/OF, Sr.
Dylan Honda was many things for the unbeaten championship-winning Waiakea Warriors. As the No. 1 pitcher in the team's rotation, the Waiakea senior pitched 25 and 2/3 innings while tossing 30 strikeouts. He was also a reliable fielder at right field and a .400 hitter in the lineup. His biggest role though was as a clutch performer. In the BIIF Division I championship game against Hilo, the left-handed pitcher logged 104 pitches in six innings before getting a two-out RBI in the bottom of the seventh to help the Warriors walk off with a 4-3 win. Against Saint Louis in the state tournament semifinals, Honda squeezed home the game-winning run in the top of the seventh to help the Warriors complete the comeback against the Crusaders, 5-4. Honda, who will continue his playing career at Hawaii Pacific University, also earned Player of the Year Honors in the All-BIIF selections, getting a First Team nod at pitcher and a Second Team selection as an outfielder.

Pitcher of the Year: Spencer Rego, Saint Louis, P, Jr.
Spencer Rego's work ethic and preparation helped him excel in the 2022 season for the Saint Louis Crusaders. The right-handed junior was masterful and consistent on the mound of the Crusaders as he led the state in innings pitched (49 and 2/3) with a 1.70 ERA. For the season he racked up 43 strikeouts and had four complete game victories, which included a 2-0 win over Kamehameha in late March and a 4-0 win over Pearl City in the quarterfinals of the state tournament. In both of the shutout wins, Rego allowed just three hits. He also pitched into the fifth inning of all of his eight starts and was the starter in the Crusaders' ILH championship-clinching win over Iolani when he went 6 and 2/3 innings before having to come out of the game due to the pitch count.

Coach of the Year: Chris Honda, Waiakea
The road was not easy, but coach Chris Honda and the Waiakea baseball team found a way to get it done night in and night out. The Warriors finished the year as the only unbeaten team with an 11-0 record as they claimed back-to-back BIIF championships and their first state crown since 2012 with a 3-2 win over Baldwin last May on Maui. Waiakea also managed to beat rival Hilo three times during the year, with all three matchups being decided by two runs or less. The Warriors' state tournament path to the title was also impressive as they faced deficits in all three games.
