Jordan Solomon threw three touchdowns passes and Ieke Seei-Cleveland turned in a solid two-way effort to lead Kaimuki to a 28-7 win over Roosevelt at Kaiser Stadium Saturday night.

The Bulldogs, who are ranked 10th in the ScoringLive/Hawaiian Electric Division II Power Rankings, rebounded from a heartbreaking, four-point loss against Kalani last week to improve to 2-1. The win puts them in second place in the Oahu Interscholastic Association Division II standings behind unbeaten Pearl City (3-0).

Solomon, a sophomore quarterback, completed just eight of his 18 pass attempts for 98 yards, but was not intercepted. All three of his scoring strikes were to different receivers.

Solomon hit Bailey Uehara and Seei-Cleveland for second-quarter touchdown passes of 15 and 24 yards, respectively, and found Andriess Toussaint for a 10-yard score in the third quarter.

"Today we opened up sitting him (Solomon), and we had another player (Calton Joseph) going in to give a new dimension, helping us to exploit something we thought that we could do and we were lucky it fell into our hands that way, but it took a lot of pressure off of Jordan, and you could tell when he stepped onto the field that he was more confident in his throws," said Kaimuki head coach David Tautofi.

The Bulldogs rushed for 190 of their 288 yards of total offense. Seei-Cleveland rushed for a game-high 78 yards on 12 carries. Joseph ran for 62 yards on eight attempts, including a two-yard touchdown run that opened the scoring about three minutes into the first quarter.

"He's been huge, you definitely need someone you can count on to run the ball," said Tautofi of Seei-Cleveland. "Having him definitely helped us to establish what are plans were for the game."

Elijah Lemalu also carried 12 times for 46 yards and Solomon chipped six rushes for 24 yards. Kaimuki used seven different ball carriers.

"We're looking to him (Seei-Cleveland) to pick up a lot of the load this year but we had another person step up today in Elijah. He did a great job, unexpectedly, but that's the beauty of our team, you never know who's going to step up. This time last year it was Billy (Masima) out of nowhere. But controlling the clock was the biggest key tonight," said Tautofi.

Kaimuki got three takeaways, all coming on fumbles. Two of them were recovered by Seei-Cleveland and the other by Lucian Finley. Mana Mahiai, Ricci Moon and Sama Paama each registered a sack.

"Our plan was to keep the ball inside, let our linebackers do their job and bring em down," said Seei-Cleveland.

The Rough Riders, who were held to a season-low 110 yards of total offense, got their lone score with 9:46 left to play on a 15-yard run by quarterback Shastyn Kekahuna.

"Defense did a great job today," remarked Tautofi. "What we coached up this week was to just fly around, hit and just play."

Kaimuki led at halftime, 22-0.

The Bulldogs but will face Faith Lutheran (Las Vegas) in a non-league game at Roosevelt's Ticky Vasconcellos Stadium at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Roosevelt dropped its second straight game to fall into a three-way tie for fifth place in the nine-team OIA D2 at 1-2 (1-3 overall).

The Rough Riders will face Waipahu (1-0) at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, in the early game of a doubleheader at Aloha Stadium. That game will be followed by a D1 Red game between Leilehua and Farrington at 7 p.m.
