MANOA - Friday night can't come soon enough for Campbell slugger Caragh Morris.

The junior first baseman's grand slam capped a six-run third inning and backed the three-hit pitching of Elisa Favela to vault No. 4 Campbell over No. 1 Kamehameha, 7-1, in Thursday's semifinals of the DataHouse Division I state softball tournament.

The Sabers (16-2) return to the title game for the second consecutive year in a rematch against top-seeded and No 3 Mililani at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium. Campbell lost to its Oahu Interscholastic Association Western Division rival, 2-1, in last year's title game. Campbell is seeking its first crown since 2010. Mililani is looking for its fourth overall crown. The teams split their regular-season meetings, but the Trojans beat the Sabers, 4-3, for the OIA championship last week.

"I want revenge right now," Morris said before knowing who her team would play. "Last year, we came up short. I don't want to do that again. I have so much belief in my team."

Favela went the distance, allowing a run, three hits and six walks with two strikeouts for the Sabers.

"I'm just so proud and happy," Favela said of the offensive support. "I'm just so happy we backed each other up."

Favela, though, was uncharacteristically wild. She entered the game having walked 10 in 75 innings. The six walks were a season high; the most she allowed until Thursday was two and that happened only once. She set down the side in order only in the first inning.

"Too much nerves, I think," Campbell coach Shag Hermosura said. "Too hyped up. Her heart was just beating. Every inning, I was trying to calm her down. i just needed her to be herself and calm down."

Kamehameha's Kamalani Dung, who pitched Wednesday's 10-inning complete-game, 3-2 victory against Kaiser, pitched six innings, allowing seven runs on nine hits. She pitched the first four-plus innings before being replaced by designated player Mahina Sauer, who pitched one-plus innings. Dung returned to pitched the final inning.

Four Sabers paired hits: Sierra Mariano (2 for 4, RBI), Favela (2 for 4, RBI), Darien Robinson (2 for 4, RBI) and Ashlyn Yagin (2 for 3, stolen base).

Campbell unloaded on Dung in the sixth when it sent nine batters to the plate to score six.

Yagin led off with a single, but Charddonay Pantastico fouled out to third on a popped up bunt attempt. After Yagin stole second, Cydney Curran flared a single to left, as Yagin held second. Nashlynn Anguays' hard single to right loaded the bases and Mariano's flare single to right drove in one run and reloaded the bases to set up Morris' slam on a 1-1 count.

For Morris, the homer - which was a high drive nearly half way up the netting - was a long-time coming. it was her first round-tripper of the season and only second extra base hit after hitting four homers, two doubles and three triples last year.

"it feels great," Morris said. "I've been in a slump all season and I haven't had a good hit like that in a long time."

Morris anticipated an outside pitch because inside pitches are her strength, she said.

"She pitched me inside, so i had to go for it," Morris said.

Dung retired the next two batters to get out of the inning.

Morris, who reached the state finals in wrestling, got a late start for softball.

"I have a lot of confidence that she is coming back and be herself how she was last year," Campbell coach Shag Hermosura said. "Wrestling did take a lot out of her; she was behind in reps."

The Sabers added a run in the fifth. Mariano led off with a single off Dung, who was then replaced by Sauer, who retired Favela on a fly to center and got Morris to ground out to second that moved Mariano to second, where she scored on Robinson's single before Nikki Corla bounced out to the pitcher.

The Warriors avoided the shutout in the bottom of the seventh With two out, Dung drew a walk and courtesy runner Makanamaikalani Tyrell scored on Dallas Millwood's booming double to left. But Favela got Sauder to ground out to short to end the game.

It was a frustrating night for the Warriors, who had just come off a 10-inning game that finished 11:02 p.m. Wednesday. But the what might have affected them most was the 19 days off from their final regular season game to their first game of the tournament Wednesday,

"i'm quire sure the 19 days off did more to us (than the 10-inning game)," Kamehameha first-year coach James Millwood said. "We were playing some of our best softball toward the end of the season. Just being off that long…

"We're playing a lot of good teams here. Favela did a good job pitching. The bats were kind of silent both games we played here. We were one of the best-hitting teams all year long. It wasn't as if we didn't face good pitching in our season. We faced some good pitching. We came out flat and couldn't hit the ball."
