Looking like a team focused on defending its Oahu Interscholastic Association title, No. 2 Mililani jumped on No. 7 Campbell early in a 47-15 romp Thursday night at Aloha Stadium.

The Trojans (10-0) will return to the Division I (formerly Red) title game for the third season in a row. They will face No. 5 Kahuku (8-1) on Oct. 31 at the stadium. The Red Raiders will be playing for their 18th modern-day title (since the advent of the title game in 1970) and are shooting for their 24th overall crown. Kahuku leads the series 10-2 and own a 2-1 advantage in title games, but the one loss was by forfeit in 2010. Last year, Mililani beat Kahuku, 37-22, in the semifinals for its only on-field win against the Red Raiders. Kahuku beat Mililani, 50-13, in the 2012 championship.

"We're in the championship game, (it waas) one of our goals," Mililani coach Rod York said, "and (I'm) definitely proud of our kids for executing. They got us here and they're going to take us home and we're going to finish it."

The Sabers (7-3), who also lost big to the Trojans during the regular season (57-28), will play Farrington (7-2) for third place and the OIA's final Division I state berth. That game is set for Nov. 1 at Mililani's John Kauinana Stadium and will be televised on OC 16.

Unlike their previous meeting, when the Trojans scored 35 unanswered points in the final 15 minutes of the game to rally from a 28-22 third-quarter deficit, Mililani jumped on the Sabers by scoring on its first five series, scoring the first 34 points of the game.

The Trojans dominated the line of scrimmage, amassing 535 yards of offense. Quarterback McKenzie Milton led the way with 339 of those yards on 263 yards passing on 22-of-29 passing with four touchdowns with one interception (by Zibrex Cabel). He rushed for 76 yards, including a 9-yard TD, on eight carries.

Running back Vavae Malepeai tallied 193 yards, 161 by rushing, including TD runs of 10 and 3 yards; he also had 32 yards from two receptions.

"The difference (from the last meeting with Campbell) was that Coach Rod (York) told us we always have to execute and our assignments are critical to us," Trojans offensive lineman Andru Tovi said. "So all brought that out and Coach motivates us everyday. He always tells us 'You guys have to bring it, 110 percent."

Behind his superb offensive line, Milton was able make good reads, whether passing or running, to keep the Sabers' defense off-balanced. Unlike the previous meeting, when Campbell basically rushed three to contain Milton in the pocket, the Sabers looked for spots to send their linebackers. That resulted in only one sack by LB Isaiah Gibson. It was only one of three times the Trojans were stopped for lost yardage in 41 rushing attempts.

"Milton is too good of a quarterback," Campbell coach Amosa Amosa said. "He can throw, he can run. His decision-making is pretty awesome, so it's hard to defend a quarterback that can do those things."

Amosa added that Mililani's hurry-up offense denied Campbell's defense from getting proper alignments to set up effective pressure on Milton.

"The O-Line did a good job picking up the blitzes," Milton said. "Had to get the ball out a little bit earlier, but it was a good all-around game today."

Milton tossed TD passes of 21 and 10 yards to Kainoa Wilson; and 47 and 13 yards to Kalakaua Timoteo.

Six of Mililani's seven scoring drives were at least from 67 yards. None lasted longer that 3:32, the Trojans' last score of game when Milton's 10-yard TD pass to Wilson capped a 12-play, 82-yard drive with 4:15 in the third quarter to make it 47-7 and start the mercy rule running clock.

"They were stuffing us back at Campbell (during the regular season game)," Milton said. "It's a tough environment playing over there. I think it was more us not playing within the system. Today, we executed our game plan. The O-Line did a great job getting to the second level to the backers and Vae (Malepeai) did a great job with the ball. And the skills made great plays on the outside."

Mililani's defense was just as devastating. The Sabers had hoped to control the ball with their ground game, but they managed 228 yards, a chunk coming from RB Terell Johnson's 82-yard TD run in the second quarter to pull the Sabers to 34-7. He finished with 115 yards on eight carries.

The Trojans completely shutdown Campbell's passing game. Ezra Savea was 4 of 11 for 40 yards. Wide receiver Jayce Bantolina, who led the team with 48 receptions for 713 yards, was limited to one catch for nine yards.

Campbell generated only 11 first downs to Mililani's staggering 29.

"Offensively, it was hard for us to do anything," Amosa said.

Campbell scored a final time with six seconds left on backup Anthony Pablo's 14-yard TD pass to Noah Esprecion.
