Saint Louis used three different quarterbacks who passed to 11 different players who combined for 389 yards and four touchdowns in a 67-19 romp of Saint Francis in an Interscholastic League of Honolulu inter-divisional contest Saturday at Aloha Stadium.
The Division I Crusaders (4-3 overall, 4-1 ILH) won their fourth consecutive game, albeit three against ILH Division II programs.
The D2 Saints (2-5, 0-5 ILH) managed 282 yards of offense playing catchup from the start.
In basically 14 minutes of play, starting QB Tua Tagovailoa completed 9 of 10 passes for 177 yards and three touchdowns. Ryder Kuhns replaced him early in the second quarter and completed 8 of 11 passes for 181 yards, including a 51-yard TD to Colton Nascimento. Nascimento was the third QB for the Crusaders; he completed 3 of 7 passes for 28 yards.
Eleven different players had pass receptions, none with more than three. Drew Kobayashi had three catches for 59 yards, including a 26 and 21-yard TDs, both from Tagovailoa.
Tagovailoa only rushed the ball twice, but had a 2-yard TD run.
Saint Louis took a 53-13 lead at the half to start the mercy rule running clock in the second half. But that didn't last long as Saint Francis scored on Pono Luis-Mateo's 65-yard interception return with 9:10 in the third quarter to pull to 53-19.
But Saint Louis go the clock running again at 8:22 when Jonathon Manalo scored on a 2-yard run to make it 60-19.
Saint Louis will play its last D2 opponent Saturday when it takes on Damien at Aloha Stadium. Saint Francis has a bye.
