AIEA — No. 7 Campbell stifled Aiea, 23-0 on Saturday night at Aiea. The Sabers rebounded from a loss to Mililani to improve to 5-1 in the Oahu Interscholastic Association Blue, while Na Alii (2-4) dropped their fourth straight game since their win over Kailua on Aug. 30.

The Sabers offense struggled, but the defense stepped up and contributed two scores and held Aiea to just 120 yards of total offense. Unity "Kea" Cambra led the way with two interceptions returned for touchdowns.

"As a team we played alright, there's always a lot to work on and can get better. I got to give God all the glory, at first we came out sluggish and it was about the second half and second wind that we have a came out fighting hard. Shout-out to our coaches and getting on us on the minor things we had against Mililani last week. This week was more of a mental week and everyone did their part and did what they had to do," said Cambra.

Campbell scored first after Cambra intercepted Kobe Kato's pass and returned it 24 yards for a touchdown.

"Tonight our defense stepped up and helped us out tonight and gave us a couple touchdowns.  Every week we stress, we physically we can match up with a lot of teams but it's the mental aspect we need to really fine tune to, to stay away from silly mistakes or mistakes that get things called back," said Campbell coach Amosa Amosa.

Ezra Savea threw three interceptions in the first half— all to Noah Taiese.

"We're still trying to figure out what our quarterbacks do well and things we need to fine tune. We have two good quarterbacks, Ezra has been in a slump lately hopefully we can get something going for him," said Amosa.

A little over the six minute mark, the Sabers made a switch at quarterback as Anthony Pablo played a series and he led them to the Aiea 6-yard line after throwing a 29-yard pass to Javal Medlin. Jenesus Tago-Sue scored on a 1-yard run to put Campbell up, 14-0.

Abiel Taito faked the punt and rushed for a 33-yard run on 4th-and-5 to the Aiea 16. Bryson Maximo nailed a 32-yard field goal as time expired.

In the third, Cambra recorded his second interception and returned it 22 yards for the score.

"To be honest, I wasn't expecting all of this coming into this game, but I try to do my best and put myself in the position to help my team out and I was lucky enough to get the pick and two scores," said Cambra.

Campbell takes on Farrington, who lost to No. 2 Mililani, 41-14 tonight, on Oct. 4 in the second game of an OIA double-header at Aloha Stadium, while Aiea hosts Kapolei on the same night in the regular season finale.

"We have to be ready for another tough week for us. We have a lot of work to do to prepare for Farrington," said Amosa.
