Kahuku defeats Kailua, 54-25

Update: Shairone Thompson and Punga Vea each scored twice as Kahuku beat Kailua, 54-25.

KAHUKU - The Oahu Interscholastic Association Red East season opener between Kailua at Kahuku will be played at 2 p.m. Saturday at Carelton E. Weimer Field.

The game was postponed Friday because of electrical issues with the field's lights. Other parts of the campus, including the press box and scoreboard, had electricity.

The JV game was completed with Kahuku winning, 35-6, as darkness neared. It was quickly decided that the varsity game would be made up Saturday.

Because refunds could not be issued, Saturday's game will be free.

In other games Saturday, Waianae will play Saint Louis at 4 p.m. and Kapolei will take on Punahou at 7 p.m. in a doubleheader at Aloha Stadium.

In another non-league game, Kamehameha will travel to Leilehua for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

In another Red East game, Castle will travel to Moanalua. In an OIA White contest, McKinley will play Kaimuki at Roosevelt.
