Kapa'a stuns Kaua'i, 24-13

Waika Alapai rushed for 111 yards and one TD to help Kapa'a beat Kaua'i, 24-13, Saturday in Kaua'i Interscholastic Federation football at Vidinha Stadium in Lihue.

The Warriors (4-1 overall, 2-1 KIF) had not beaten the Red Raiders (4-1, 2-1) since Nov. 2, 2001, when Kapa'a won, 9-7. The win snapped a 24-game losing streak to the Red Raiders covering the past eight seasons.

Kaua'i pulled to 17-13 on Shea Shimabukuro's 27-yard field goal with eight minutes, 54 seconds to play. But Jacob Rapozo returned an interception 17 yards for a TD with 1:48 left in the contest to seal it for the Warriors.
