KS-Maui zooms past PAC-5 in Division II semifinal


Back in the championship game.

Kamehameha-Maui will be making its second title game appearance in three years after besting PAC-5 in a 31-10 victory at Kanaiaupuni Stadium Saturday night in the First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA Division II State Football Championships.

The Warriors (7-1) used a 21-point second quarter to take control of the game with Makana Kamaka-Brayce throwing three touchdowns in the frame. Kamaka-Brayce finished with 256 yards on 17 of 33 passing.

Hauling in scoring passes for KS-Maui were Shane Ueki, Kaikea Hueu and Dylan Schnitzer. Two of the Warriors' second quarter TDs came in the final minute of the first half.

Kaonohi Casco opened the scoring for the Warriors on a 3-yard run in the first quarter while Kayden Yap capped the scoring with a 20-yard field goal in the third quarter.

Evan Derauf kicked a 33-yard field goal in the first quarter and Elijah Connell-Chavez scored on a 61-yard run early in the fourth quarter to lead the Wolfpack (5-3) in their season-ending loss.

KS-Maui will take on reigning state champion Waimea in the state final next Saturday at Mililani's John Kauinana Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 4:07 p.m.
