Trojans set new school record in blowout win over Marauders

MILILANI — It was a record-setting night on senior night.

Quarterback Kini McMillan accounted for eight total touchdowns as No. 2 Mililani raced past No. 13 Waipahu, 74-18, Saturday night at John Kauinana Stadium in both teams' regular season-finale.

The 74 points scored by the Trojans against the Marauders became the most points scored in a game in program history. The previous high came in a 73-14 win over McKinley on Aug. 15, 2015.

McMillan completed 24 of 37 passes for 293 yards and four TDs against one interception in the win as Mililani (8-1 overall, 6-0 league) earned its eighth straight win of the year. The junior quarterback also rushed nine times for 94 yards and four scores on the ground.

Coming down with scoring receptions in the receiving corps were Kanoa Ferreira, Davyn Joseph, Onosai Salanoa and Isaiah Padello.

The Trojans also scored TDs on special teams and defense. Joseph's 84-yard punt return gave Mililani a 33-12 lead at the break while Ethan Biondine and Elijah Nua scored on interception returns in the fourth quarter. Lyric Sarae tacked on his eighth PAT of the game after Nua's pick-6 to give the Trojans their record-setting 74th point.

All the TDs scored by Waipahu (4-4 overall, 4-2 league) came on go-balls thrown by Elijah Mendoza. Eric Stephens caught six passes for 140 yards and two scores while Jayden Chanel had nine receptions for 123 yards and a TD.
