MANOA — Brayden Schager passed for a career-best 355 yards and three touchdowns, but the University of Hawaii dropped its second straight game with a 37-24 loss to Stanford Friday night. 

A crowd of 13,739 fans at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletic Complex saw the Rainbow Warriors (0-2) fall short on their home opener, which came just six days after a 35-28 loss at Vanderbilt. 

Schager completed 30 of his 53 pass attempts and was not intercepted. Pofele Ashlock recorded eight receptions for 114 yards, including touchdown grab in each half. A 7-yard TD pass from Schager to Ashlock tied the score at 7 with 14:11 left in the second quarter. 

Stanford tallied 407 yards of total offense, including 249 yards through the air from sophomore quarterback Ashton Daniels, who made his first career start Friday. Daniels completed 25 of 36 passes with two touchdowns; He was not intercepted. 

Tight end Benjamin Yurosek hauled in nine catches for a career-high 138 yards. His 32-yard TD reception from Daniels with 12:24 left in the first half gave his team the lead for good. 

Joshua Karty converted field goals of 25, 25 and 46 yards for the Cardinal (1-0), who were making their debut under new coach Troy Taylor. 

Punahou graduate Alakai Gilman led Stanford defensively with seven tackles. 

Logan Taylor tallied nine tackles, including two for losses, to lead Hawaii's defense. 

The Rainbow Warriors were held to minus-five rushing yards. They were 8 of 16 on third downs, but committed 10 penalties for 107 yards. 

Safety Meki Pei and linebacker Isaiah Tufaga were disqualified for separate targeting penalties in the loss. 

Hawaii will try for its first win of the season next Saturday, when it hosts FCS-UAlbany.
