Kahaku Iaea completed 27 of 40 passes for 242 yards and two touchdowns and Eric Lum caught 11 passes for 92 yards and one TD and added two long field goals as Kailua rolled past Kaiser, 35-14, in O'ahu Interscholastic Association football action Friday at Kaiser Stadium.

The Surfriders, ranked No. 8 in the ScoringLive-OC16 Power Rankings, improved to 5-2 overall and 4-1 in the OIA's Red Conference Eastern Division with their fourth straight victory. The Cougars fell to 0-7, 0-5.

Iaea, a 6-foot, 204-pound sophomore, continues to lead all O'ahu passers with 139 completions in 241 attempts for 1,809 yards, and he's second to Saint Louis' Marcus Mariota with 14 touchdowns.

Another impressive Kailua sophomore, running back Jarrin Young, added 74 rushing yards on 12 carries and scored two TDs running and one receiving. His darting, 34-yard touchdown run and two-point conversion gave the Surfriders an 8-0 lead with 36 seconds remaining in the first quarter.

Awa Poggi recovered a Kaiser fumble on the next play from scrimmage, and Young's 1-yard TD plunge on the first play of the second quarter followed by Lum's extra point made it 15-0. Iaea connected with Lum on a 20-yard scoring strike with 5:41 left in the half to help Kailua stretch the lead to 22-0, but the Cougars answered immediately with Josh Gonda's 89-yard kickoff return to paydirt. Jason Khamvongsa's PAT cut it to 22-7.

Lum converted a 35-yard field goal two minutes into the second half to push the lead to 25-7, then added one from 42 yards out midway through the third quarter to make it 28-7.

Iaea and Young connected on a 5-yard touchdown pass to effectively seal the game 30 seconds into the fourth quarter.
