Oahu Interscholastic Association East girls volleyball matches scheduled for Monday, Aug. 27 will be played on a later date, league coordinator Rory Pico said.
The schedule change is a result of the impending threat of Hurricane Lane as teams cannot conduct any practices for the rest of this week.
Most of the matches have been moved to the morning of Saturday, Sept. 1, with the exception of the contest between McKinley and Kaimuki. The Tigers will travel to the Bulldogs' court on Tuesday, Aug. 28 instead.
The other contests that were affected by the change are:
» Castle at Kahuku
» Kailua at Moanalua
» Kaiser at Farrington
» Anuenue at Kalaheo
» Kalani at Roosevelt
The start times of the rescheduled contests will be: 10 a.m. for the white developmental teams, 11 a.m. for junior varsity and noon for varsity squads. If one of the participating schools do not have a white or JV team, the first match will start at 11 a.m.
With Hurricane Lane approaching the islands, the Hawaii State Department of Education (@HIDOE808) has announced that effective Wednesday, Aug. 22, ALL interscholastic athletic events are canceled for the rest of the week. Please kokua and stay safe everyone! pic.twitter.com/nCaLQpG5wp
