Mililani fends off Farrington in four sets

Mililani denied Farrington at Moanalua's gymnasium Thursday night in the Oahu Interscholastic Association Division I playoffs in four sets to advance to next Monday's semifinals. The set scores were 25-15, 25-17, 26-28 and 25-17.

The Trojans, the defending OIA D1 champions, will face Moanalua at Radford's Jim Alegre Gymnasium next. First serve is slated for 5:30 p.m.

Nate Johnson had 11 kills with 11 digs and Caleb Pascual added nine in each of the same categories to power Mililani in the win. Chance Guillermo was also solid with 26 assists, 16 digs, six kills and three blocks as the Trojans clinched a state berth in the win.

Chris Afe led the Governors in the loss with nine kills and two aces, which earned Farrington the final two points of the third set. Eleu Choy added 14 assists, 14 digs and seven kills for Farrington, who host Waipahu in a consolation match next Monday. The winner between the two teams will clinch a state berth while the loser's season is over.
