Waianae trips up Radford, 8-3, to move into first place

Waianae rallied from an early deficit to hand Radford its first loss of the season, 8-3, in an Oahu Interscholastic Association Division II contest at Donald M. Kimura Field Saturday morning.

The visiting Seariders capitalized on seven Radford errors to improve to 5-0 and move into first place in the league standings.

Braiden Ayala's three-run homer in the top of the fourth inning gave Waianae the lead for good, 5-3. The Seariders added to their lead with a run in the fifth and plated two more scores in the top of the seventh to put the game out of reach for the Rams (4-1).

Waianae starter Brayden Chong threw a season-high 12 strikeouts in six innings of work to pick up his second win of the season. Chong also helped his case going 2-for-4 at the plate with a triple, two RBIs and a run scored.

Jack Dillon took the loss on the mound for the Rams. He gave up nine hits, but was only charged with one earned run as six Waianae batters reached on an error.

Dillon also led the Rams at the plate, batting 1-for-2 with an RBI, run and two drawn walks.
