Kaiser defeated visiting Farrington in straight sets, 25-16, 25-14, to begin Oahu Interscholastic Association Eastern Division play with a win Monday night.

Junior outside hitter Jon Stanley Jr. led the Cougars (1-0) in the victory with a match-high 16 kills. Jacob Summers and Dylan Poon each added four kills and Kalai Skeele had three blocks and a kill to round out Kaiser's attack.

"It's good to see us coming out strong and out firing and winning our first (match), which is going to help us through the season," said Stanley.

Senior setter Aaron Brocket directed the offense with success, dishing out a total of 24 assists.

"We didn't pass well last year and it was hard on him, but he's better this year," Kaiser coach Jon Stanley Sr. said. "Now we're passing better and he has to learn how to use his hitters, but he's setting consistent and doing real well."

Richard Pili led the Governors (0-1) in the loss with seven kills, six assists, two blocks and an ace.
