Castle crashes Kailua, 10-8

What a crazy game.

Castle scored six straight runs to start the game and later retook the lead from Kailua to hand the visiting Surfriders their first loss of the season, 10-8, Saturday afternoon.

Despite going down 6-0 after a five-run third inning, defending Oahu Interscholastic Association Division I champion Kailua rallied with a run in the top of the fourth and a six-run fifth inning to take a 7-6 lead.

However, Castle (2-1) came alive with three runs in the bottom of the frame to take the lead for good, 9-7. Both teams scored another run in the sixth inning to add to the box score, but the Surfriders (3-1) were unable to plate two more runs to extend the game.

Hunter Paredes earned the win on the mound for the Knights, pitching 2 and 2/3 innings of relief for starter Baron Arquero. Paredes allowed just three hits and one unearned run while walking three and striking out two.

Keola Chun led Castle's offense with a triple and three RBIs.

The Knights chased Kailua starter Joey Cantillo, who will play collegiately at the University of Kentucky, after 2 and 1/3 innings of work to jump out to their lead. Cantillo did not allowed a hit all game, but walked eight batters and beaned another.

Bryson Ballesteros came in to relieve Cantillo and was charged with the loss after losing the Surfriders' lead in the bottom of the fifth inning.
