Kalani pulls away to tip Kaiser, 6-1

WAIPIO--Kalani took an early lead in the first and scored three runs in the sixth to pull away from Kaiser, 6-1 in an Oahu Interscholastic Association East Division I game at Patsy T. Mink Central Oahu Regional Park on Saturday night. 

The Falcons improve to 2-0 in the OIA East standings while the Cougars are winless at 0-2. 

Kohl Suehiro and Bronson Matsumoto each scored off of passed balls for an early 2-0 lead in the first inning. 

Micah Mashima's sacrifice fly scored Landon Shigeta for Kaiser's only score of the game in the third inning to make it, 2-1. 

Kalani walked in another run in the fourth and Matsumoto broke the game open as he hit a three RBI double to left field in the sixth inning to put the game away. Matsumoto finished 1-for-3 and a run. 

Edward Lee got the win for the Falcons throwing 65 pitches in four innnings and striking out four and walking four. Harrison Moy came in to clean up to throw five strikes. 

Up next for Kalani is Kalaheo on Mar. 4, while Kaiser looks to regroup against Roosevelt on Mar. 1.
