Top-seeded Saint Francis downs Honokaa, 78-50

Kameron Ng scored a game-high 24 points to lead top-seeded Saint Francis to a 78-50 win over fourth-seeded Honokaa in semifinals of the Snapple/HHSAA Division II Boys Basketball State Championships at Kalani's Earl C. Homer Gymnasium Thursday night.

The Saints (12-0) shot 46.2 percent (24 of 52) from the field, including 10 of 18 on 3-pointers, and 76.9 percent (20 of 26) from the free-throw line.

Ng made 3 of 6 from 3-point range and added six assists, six steals and four rebounds in a game-high 31 minutes played.

Bryce Nishida and Justus Paaluhi-Caulk each made a pair of 3's and finished with 12 and 10 points, respectively for Saint Francis, the Interscholastic League of Honolulu champion.

Kevin Falk paced the Dragons (12-4) with 18 points.He was the lone player to score in double figures for Honokaa, which turned it over 25 times. The Big Island Interscholastic Federation titlists were just 2-of-16 shooting on 3-pointers and 16 of 28 on free throws.

Saint Francis led 38-28 at halftime and separated in the third quarter, when it outscored Honokaa 21-7.

The Saints will face Oahu Interscholastic Association champion and No. 3 seed Kalani in the 5 p.m. state final Friday at the Stan Sheriff Center. It will be just their second appearance in the title game and first since 2013, when they defeated Kailua, 39-34, for the only state crown in school history.

The Dragons, who reached the semifinals for the second straight year, will play No. 2 seed Seabury Hall for third place at 3 p.m.
