Seabury Hall, Punahou take paddling titles

Seabury Hall won the girls and mixed crew titles while Punahou took home its third straight boys crown in the First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA Canoe Paddling State Championships at Keehi Lagoon Saturday morning.

The Spartans' girls crew, who won its first state title since 2013, won the half-mile race with a time of 4:16.80. Kamehameha finished second in 4:18.96 and Molokai placed third in 4:24.89.

Seabury Hall's mixed crew repeated as state champions after finishing the course in 3:48.99. Punahou followed in 3:51.89 and KS-Maui took third place in a time of 3:59.74.

The Punahou boys won in convincing fashion with a time of 3:31.08. The Seabury Hall boys placed second in 3:40.32 and Kamehameha was third in 3:41.75.
