Saint Francis blasts Seabury Hall, 52-27

Olivia Vaeatangitau scored 17 points and grabbed 18 rebounds to lead Saint Francis to a 52-27 trouncing of third-seeded Seabury Hall in a quarterfinal of the Snapple/HHSAA Division II Girls Basketball State Championships at Farrington's Richard Kitamura Gymnasium Thursday night.

The unseeded Saints, who finished second in the Interscholastic League of Honolulu, improved to 12-1 and will face No. 2 seed Kamehameha-Hawaii in a 5 p.m. semifinal Friday at Kalani's Earl C. Homer Gym.

Vaeatangitau shot 8 of 18 from the field and recorded 11 offensive rebounds to go with two steals and two blocks in 21 minutes played.

Kaimi Kalei added 11 points with four assists and three steals and Kawena Kalani came off the bench for eight points, eight rebounds, four steals and two assists for the Saints.

Seabury Hall, the Maui Interscholastic League champion, was led by Anaulei Tuivai's 12-point effort.

The Spartans (7-3) shot just 25 percent (10 of 40) from the field and were outrebounded 59 to 24.

Saint Francis held a 28-11 lead at halftime.
