Radford's runners finish first at Leilehua Meet

Radford's Camryn Butz notched her second first place finish of the Oahu Interscholastic Association cross country when she won the girls' varsity race at the Leilehua Meet last Saturday.

"I needed to try harder this week because I had a really bad race last week at Kualoa Ranch," she said. "It wasn't that difficult because there were barely any hills."

Butz was one of three Radford harriers to finish in first place in their respective runs. The Rams' Jacob Vigliante took top honors in the boys' varsity race while Taryn Trigler finished in first in the girls' junior varsity run.

"This race was really important because it was one of our very few races this year," said Trigler, who finished in second place at the Pearl City Meet. "I really enjoy running and there's a lot of people who helped me get here so I'm doing it for myself and for them."

Kalaheo's Chase Eckenfels won the boys' junior varsity race.

"I think I've gotten a few minutes faster and I train as hard as I can in every practice so hopefully I'll get faster and faster," said Eckenfels, who placed third in the Pearl City Meet.
