Kalaheo rallies by Radford, 6-4

Kalaheo scored five unanswered runs to overcome an early deficit to top Radford, 6-4 in the Oahu Interscholastic Association Division II semifinals at Patsy T. Mink Central Oahu Regional Park Friday afternoon.

Kekai Smith batted 3 for 3 with two RBIs and two doubles to help the Mustangs (9-4) avenge their two regular season losses to the Rams (8-4). The Mustangs will meet Kapolei (12-0) in Saturday's championship game at Hans L'Orange Park.

Winning pitcher Tennison Cantrell came in of relief of Kailu Lapera during the second inning with two outs and pitched five innings of shutout ball the rest of the way to keep the Mustangs in it.

Radford starter Tjader De Alba pitched four and two-thirds inning before getting pulled in favor of shortstop Jacob Nishitomi, who took the loss.

Thomas Capllonch scored the game's first run of the game after getting on with a two-out single in the top of the opening frame. Smith's first double of the contest drove in Capllonch to give the Mustangs the early lead.

The Rams answered with Nishitomi's inside-the-park home run to leadoff the bottom of the first inning. Radford took the lead before the end of the first stanza, 2-1, on Dylan Lewis' double that plated courtesy runner Bradley Benito.

Richard Akana and Nishitomi scored in the second inning to give the Rams a commanding 4-1 lead.

The Mustangs scored three runs in the top of the fourth to chase De Alba and tie things up, and took the lead for good with two runs in the sixth inning.
