Baldwin stuns defending state champ Mililani, 2-1

Micah Ching and Daniel Souza each scored a goal to help Baldwin down defending state champion Mililani in a first-round game of The Queen's Medical Center/Hawaii High School Athletic Association Division I Boys Soccer State Championships at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex Wednesday afternoon.

Ching scored in the 23rd minute and Souza in the 48th for the Bears (10-2-1), who finished second in the Maui Interscholastic League.

Isaiah Manding scored the lone goal for the Trojans (12-2) in the 70th minute.

Baldwin will play top-seeded Kalani (13-0) in a 7 p.m. quarterfinal Thursday. Mililani, which finished fifth in the Oahu Interscholastic Association tournament, will face Mid-Pacific in a 1 p.m. consolation game.

RADFORD 5, HILO 1: Michael Watson scored four goals as the Rams (10-5) rallied past the Vikings (11-5). Watson, a senior forward, scored in the 24th, 25th, 38th and 49th minutes and now has 13 on the year. Radford, the OIA third-place team, will face No. 2 seed Punahou (9-0-3) at 5 p.m. Thursday. The Big Island Interscholastic Federation runner-up Vikings will play Moanalua at 1 p.m.

KAISER 5, MOANALUA 3: Makana Srivongsana scored three times and David Cito-Rodrigues twice and the Cougars (10-3-1) overcame an early deficit against Na Menehune (8-5-2). Srivongsana had goals in the 1st, 20th and 77th minutes and Cito-Rodrigues in the 24th and 26th minutes for OIA runner-up Kaiser, which will meet third-seeded Kamehameha-Maui (10-1-1) in a 1 p.m. quarterfinal Thursday. Moanalua, the OIA's sixth-place team, got goals from Eric Tabiolo, Nick Ishikawa and Dylan Cabalang.
