Dunaway, Galdiano win ILH golf crowns


The Interscholastic League of Honolulu golf season came to a close Thursday with the completion of the 36-hole individual championships at the Turtle Bay Resort's George Fazio golf course.

Kamehameha senior Spencer Dunaway finished one stroke ahead of runner-up Kengo Aoshima, of Iolani, to claim boys' medalist honors with a one-under par 143. The Punahou duo of Kyle Suppa (146) and Sian Rogers (147) were third and fourth, respectively, and three others finished tied for fifth at 148.

Buffanblu junior Mariel Galdiano captured girls' medalist honors with a five-under par 139, to finish nine strokes ahead of her teammate Allisen Corpuz. Iolani's Rose Huang (149) finished third while her teammate, Zoey Akagi Bustin, and Maryknoll's Alanis Sakuma both shot 155 to tie for fifth.

The first of two rounds were played at Oahu Country Club on Monday.

The David S. Ishii Foundation/Hawaii High School Athletic Association State Championships will be held at the Waikoloa Resort Kings' Course next week.
