Rick Nomura, an Interscholastic League of Honolulu all-star outfielder for Punahou in 2012, has signed a letter of intent to play for baseball for Southeastern Conference power Arkansas.

Nomura had played the past two seasons at Alvin (Texas) JC. He also had offers from other Division I programs, including Texas Tech and Texas A&M, according to his father, Ron Nomura, who played for the University of Hawaii from 1976 to 1979. Rick Nomura canceled trips to Texas Tech and Texas A&M after taking his trip to Arkansas.

The younger Nomura played third base at Alvin. He batted .388 with a .463 on-base average and a .568 slugging percentage. His 10 triples ranked fourth in his conference. He is playing for Conejo Oaks of the California Collegiate Baseball League this summer.
