Nominations sought for Hawaii High School Hall of Honor

Nominations for the Hawaii High School Hall of Honor, which was established in 1982 to recognize athletic excellence of high school seniors in Hawaii, are being accepted through April 30.

Twelve student-athletes will be chosen by an independent selection committee and inducted into the 2014 Hall of Honor at a dinner banquet on June 1 at the Ala Moana Hotel. Enterprise Rent-A-Car will award each honoree a $2,000 college scholarship, which may be used to offset education expenses such as tuition, books, and room and board.

Seniors who are participating in any official Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association state championship sport are eligible for consideration.

Athletic excellence is given primary consideration by the selection committee, which also takes into account a student-athlete’s character and sportsmanship, extra-curricular activities, academic achievements and community contributions.

Nomination forms may be downloaded from the HHSAA web site sportshigh.com A student-athlete must receive his/her school’s approval before submitting a form, which must be sent to the HHSAA at P.O. Box 62029, Honolulu, HI, 96839, and postmarked by Wednesday, April 30.
