That's a wrap on 2013 prep football season


The 2013 prep football season is now in the books after a day of rest and relaxation Sunday, it's time to reflect upon some of the top stories from the gridiron this Fall.

In no particular order:

-The tragic loss of Farrington cornerback Dayne Ortiz

-Punahou wins Div. I state football crown after finishing second the past two years

-The fall of Kahuku (6-5) after back-to-back state championships

-Kamehameha's resurgence under first-year coach Doug Cosbie

-Kaiser's rise to the top of Div. II with its first state championship since winning 1979 Prep Bowl

-The end of Iolani's reign as six-time D2 state champ

-The inaugural season of Saint Francis varsity football under coach Mike Ulufale

-Hilo topples Kealakehe for BIIF Div. I title and first state-tournament berth since 2003

-Lahainaluna's dominance of the MIL continues, but the Lunas fell short of their goal of a D2 state championship

-Baldwin loses its coach (AJ Roloos) and top player (Jordan Hoiem) before the season even began

-The start of the Keneke Pacheco-era at Baldwin results in another MIL D1 title and state-tournament appearance

-Mililani's rise to the top of the OIA Red and first-ever appearance in the D1 state championship game

-Kalani qualifies for the postseason for the first time and reaches the OIA White semifinals

-Kauai's Cinderella run to the D2 state title game under first-year coach Tommy John Cox

-Forfeits by numerous D2 teams in both the OIA White and ILH

-The ILH debuts a Postseason schedule for both D1 and D2

-Campbell qualifies for first-ever state tournament and reaches semifinal round
