"With her leadership, passion and values, Tanya Fuamatu-Anderson is an exemplary role model for our student-athletes," said Athletic Director Jeaney Garcia. "We are excited to welcome her as head coach, and know that she will contribute greatly to this exceptional program. We also thank Peter Balding for his years of commitment to the sport of volleyball at Punahou, and for creating a solid foundation for our students’ success."

Fuamatu-Anderson was a four-year starter at University of Hawai'i-Hilo, where she was named NAIA Player of the Year in 1993, selected for Pacific West Conference Player of the Year in 1994 and 1995, and was a first-team AVCA All-American in 1995. She served as assistant volleyball coach at Chaminade University from 1996 to 2007 and played AVP professional beach volleyball from 2001 to 2007.

"I am grateful for this opportunity to be part of a great program and school," Fuamatu-Anderson said. "I am blessed to have had the chance to be mentored by Peter Balding, who is one of the best teacher/coaches of the game today. I look forward to building on the foundation that Peter started."
